Having been given the kit of the pikemen you defeated, it's time you put it to use. Go to the Billeting Officer, open the barracks, unlock and create a unit of Demesne Pikemen.

"Peasant labourers are an essential part of any army. They're better-suited to gathering resources from farms and mines, but in battle they can push siege engines and even fight, at least a little bit." Go to the Billeting Officer, open the Barracks and form a unit of Serfs.

Swordsmen are the bedrock of any balanced army: Most have some form of armour as well as their shields, which means they can be used to overwhelm ranged troops. Go to the Billeting Officer, open the barracks, unlock and create a unit of Sword Militia.

Signacula have two uses: If you have enough, you can unlock the corresponding unit without having to unlock any earlier technologies or units. If you have a signaculum for a unit you already own, you can spend it to boost the XP of the unit. Visit the Billeting Officerand unlock the Spear Militia.

Build a unit of Spear Militia via the Barracks screen.
